My 2006 GS with koa B/S and spruce top. The larger GS body supports the low end, which can be a little weak in koa, especially before it ages. The spruce top warms up the sound a bit compared to an all koa model. This is probably my best guitar, with sound easily rivaling my 1990 Custom Shop Martin J-40, but having the renowned Taylor playability.

I'm just kidding guys don't get upset, but I do think there is less variance in Taylors than there is with other brands, that's why they're largely a love it or hate it brand

Over the years, I have come to prefer the tone of guitars from other makers; but, I had a 20th Anniversary XX-MC (Cedar/Mahogany GA) years ago, that to this day is the best sounding Taylor I ever heard. Being about 20-years old now, and assuming it's been well cared for, I have to believe it is just magnificent now!

I have 3 Taylors (714, 818, and a mini) and they all have a different voice comparatively. But as far as which has the sweetest tone, it would be the 04' 714 cedar/EIR. Man, I love that guitar.

Mine was a 514-ce.

I like the mellow tone of that model.

I hear ya, JLed. I have your Taylor's older brother, my customer Sinker over EIR. Great tone.

That said, I can't wait to try the 2014 814/816/818.

I've had a bunch of different Taylors over the years: 314, 414, 814, 815, etc.

My favorite so far is the new 2014 816ce I picked up recently. I had never played a x16 before and am now a huge fan. It's really difficult to decide which acoustic case to open up lately, the 816ce or my Martin HD28V. They are both such amazing guitars. It's a great problem to have

I've owned three high end Taylors over the years. They are all gone…

And, replaced by a 114 and 214. Why? Because these "bottom feeders" sound MUCH better!

Check 'em out.

Taylor makes 175 individual models in eight sizes, using koa, sitka, adirondack, mahogany, maple, cocobolo, rosewood, ovangkol, and cedar, and they all sound the same to you?

Not a huge Taylor fan in general, but the newly braced 800 series have a much more resonant, modern sound that, at least to my ears, is a nice improvement.

For a Taylor 6 string with cutaway, mine. Taylor 414ce Sitka/Walnut 2010 Spring Limited

A couple of years ago, a local store had an all walnut Taylor 12 string on consignment. Amazing, heavenly sound. Full, rich, resonant, bass like my guitar. I didn't have the funds available at the time, so didn't buy it. However, I know who did. He's an excellent guitarist, our wives are good friends, and I'm sure some day we will get together, and I can play it again.

LKSM signature model. Compared it with every Taylor 12 string they had in store (about 6 others) and it was a cut above them. Mind you it comes with heavy strings, so that played a part
