Wow Tim! The wenge looks amazing!! Very cool aesthetics. I don't think that one will make it back from the show. Someone is going to snatch that one up.

I can't make the Artisan this year, but next year I plan to be retired and Kathy and I talked about making the trip then. Have a great show!!

It does Neil. It's as good as any we've built to date. Besides that I'm a sucker for Carpathian tops. If there was any top that came close to be a "Do-All" top this would be it.

And now for a bit of natural eye candy beauty ... a MiniMac with Claro Walnut / Padauk Hollow Back and double sides with a 1950 Redwood water tower top. Brazilian RW peghead, FB and bridge, brown Ebony bindings and Wild Black Cherry purflings.

Yeah, I have a soft spot for the stuff too! That Nashville guitar you made several years had it paired nicely with ebony IIRC. There I go talking like a connoisseur though. The problem is that I'm forever on a PBJ budget!

“Wild Cherry…” I’d suggest that walnut back is pretty wild. Wildly beautiful, that is.

Our next Artisan Guitar is our Grand Recording model which is similar is size to a 0000 body. The back and sides are South East Asian Rosewood with a Western Red Cedar top. Why? Well, because it’s where East meets West duh…

Artisan Guitar Show 2024 pics:

Mark Hatcher was our neighbor this year. He and his wife Karen were a joy to be next to.





Morgan Kelsey was beside Mark and had some very interesting guitars featuring a unique set of musical reeds in the upper left bout that could be plucked to create unique tones. It reminded me of the reed in a Jews Harp. Hopefully Morgan can explain it in more accurate detail.





Bill Kraus was beside Morgan and had a table full of gorgeous guitars. Bill also gave away a guitar that was raffled off as the grand prize at the show.





Kevin Neidig played our demo concert for us again this year. If you are not familiar with Kevin Google him. He is an awesome instrumentalist and has a great voice as well. He’s a professional musician in the PA area.

It was great to see Fred Tellier again at the show. He is a true delight to be around.






Wayne Johnson had a table full of gorgeous guitars.





John Sebastian of Lovin Spoonfull was his usual smiling and jovial self.

To me, one of the highlights of the show is visiting with the McKnights. I asked John (Detrick) if he could move our table closer to Tim and Mary’s, and he put us right across the aisle. Which put us right across from Mark and Morgan and Bill as well, which made for a fun weekend.

It was our first time displaying at this show and wonderful to be welcomed by so many familiar builders! It’s a great show and was fun to meet so many folks in person that we’ve known from here at AGF for so long.

I guess the primary purpose of these shows is to get our guitars into players hands, but a great side benefit is to get out of the shop and see our fellow builders.
