Default Custom Built Cornerstone Guitar - Major Changes

After months of depleting stock I decided to finally add a guitar to the arsenal. I decided to go with Cornerstone Guitars built by Peter Marreiros (AGF's WorshipGuitar) in Westminster, CA. I had thought about getting another Taylor GS, this time in rosewood/cedar, but after looking at a special offer Peter had made on his website, I decided to leap.

Peter had started a guitar in Adirondack and Anigre, a wood I'd never heard of, but had been likened soundwise to figured mahogany. I had accepted the idea of the Anigre when Peter offered me the opportunity to change the back and sides wood. I had the option of Walnut, EIR, Jacaranda, Figured Mahogany, or Camatillo Rosewood.

Well, I'd heard of all but one... Camitillo Rosewood. So, I searched and talked to Peter further and decided on the Camatillo. http://www.lmii.com/CartTwo/thirdpro...tillo+Rosewood

Here are some pics of the top...

Go with the walnut man, that would be awesome.

Well, Peter is building an asymmetrical guitar called the Genesis which I really love. I am planning on a walnut/sinkerwood or flamed redwood Genesis in the future. The Camatillo is pretty wild and has a lot of purple in it and good reviews on sound.

A pic of the rough cut Adi top with at the time, it's back and side partner Curly Anigre... I just love that heavy striping on the Adi.

The guitar Peter had started is a small jumbo with cutaway, which is my favorite.
The rosette will be a band of Curly Anigre with a Paua inlay.
I think the top will have a tremendous amount of texture and visual appeal with the
heavily striped Adi, curly Anigre and the Paua.

Now glued and sanded...

And laid on the Adi top for a quick preview...

Back is glued and Peter showed me the shape with the Camatillo. I chose to have the sapwood point down because I believed that it showed more figure in the grain.

Choosing the bindings... We had talked about many options, ebony, boxwood, maple. Pictured below are (top to bottom) Bloodwood, Koa and Brazilian Rosewood. I am leaning with the dark Brazilian Rosewood with Bloodwood an intriguing second. Still time to decide.

Peter has several headstock inlays, one being the Cornerstone name, the other a cross and a dove. I tend to be pretty understated prefer not to have an overt symbol on my guitar, or my clothes, or most elsewhere. I've never had a problem with others doing it, for me, I tend to be more subtle. Although I am rarely subtle when it comes to talking about the Lord.

So I asked Peter if there were other options and he told me that he had been toying with the idea of an anchor, a prominent symbol in the early church. I loved that idea and asked if I could see it. Well, he hasn't designed anything as of yet, so being a graphic designer myself I asked if I could give it a try.

After several ideas were passed by Peter, we landed on a logo idea. It incorporates the anchor and the C, as well as several other items. Love when that happens. Peter offered some nice upgrades on the guitar in return for finalizing the logo and a couple other things, so I leapt at that. Below is the initial result...

Congratulations on your choice of what I'm sure will be a great guitar for you.

Jim -- I REALLY like the logo. Great job on that. Stylish, unique, memorable, and approriately symbolic.

Can I ask, though, what the difference is between a regular guitar and a "worship guitar"? Does that limit the luthier's potential audience, or does it help, as he appears to focus on guitars (apparently) built for worship?
