I've always wanted to know HOW to do this.

A guy I play with sometimes, can move his pick down between his ring, and pinky finger, to play with his thumb, & first two fingers, then retrieves the pick for flat picking.... He does it smooth as can be. It's like a coin trick....

Jeff Beck used to do this back in the day. Although I saw him around 2005 from the 3rd row, and I am certain he didn't use one that night.

I've seen Greg Koch and Joe Bonamassa store the pick between their index and middle fingers.
The pick is stored pointy-side up toward the back of the hand; your thumb rotates it back into picking position.
