Default Bought my first Blue Chip

While my Primetones are working very well for me, I thought bite the bullet and get a Blue Chip. I ordered a TAD 60.

We'll see how it plays.

Hi, I suspect that it wont be your last!

Not tat you'll EVER wear it out.

My first (also a TAD) was a 40 (1 m/m) which is still my preference for light gauge strings on 0-000 guitars.

For my dreads, with mediums) I've long settled on TAD50 (1.25 m/m) for mediums.

I have one TAD60 which gives a more bass /less treble focussed sound but they are all great.

I have the Primetones and they are perfectly serviceable but I feel that they don't "add" anything to the tone or feel - which is what BCs do.

This might be of interest:

Let us know how you get on!

I hope it works out for you, I will say they slide off the strings like no other pick I have played, but, to my ears they are to muted. Comparing a Primetone with the Blue Chip I like the tone of the Primetones.

My pick of choice is a Ultem Gold Clayton, I will file a speed bevel on both sides and then polish the edges.

My TAD40 has been my go to for years, easy to grip and I love the tone it gives me. Hope yours works out !

It took me some trial and error to find the right one, but I could not be happier with my TP-1R60, rounded corner for mandolin. It feels and sounds just right !

I have a TAD 1R 40 that I love. It's a bigger triangle pick and I don't what it is about them, but they sound great. It's the best pick I've ever had.

Here comes the hard part. Don't let what you paid dictate your view of it. You might go back to Primetones or not, but let the pick decide. I love Blue Chips, but like Charmed Life Casien better. Not enough that I don't play both a lot.

I thought about getting a TAD-1R so that I'd have a rounded corner for my mandolin. But I'm focused on growing as a guitar player right now. If I pick my mandolin back up (and I DO kinda miss it) then I'll order a TAD-3R.

I have a love/hate relationship with my Bluechips. I have bought several.

The Wegens are faster, but the Bluechips sound better.

But then sometimes that's not true.

I'll get back with ya.

Welcome to the club. I used to think, "What kind of idiot spends $40 on a guitar pick!?" Now I see that idiot every day in the mirror. Good looking guy. He owns like 5 BC picks.

I bought a TAD-3R 60 not long ago and I don't care for it. I have it laying right here to sell on AGF when I get around to it.

I think that the Ultem Gold Claytons are really nice picks, especially with polished edges. I like them every bit as much as the Primetones. I have come to prefer casein over the years.
Best,
Jayne

I agree about them sounding muted. I haven't tried a Primetone, maybe i'll give them a shot.

For flatpicking medium gauge strings on a dread, TAD60 has become my go to. So much less work than a thinner pick. You might consider a CT-55 which is very close but a touch brighter for when the strings are a little less fresh.

Try as I do, I always come back to my Blue Chip. I’ve tried all different kinds. Nothing, for me, beats the sound, feel and the stability (doesn’t slip around) like my TD-40.
