Light & Resonant Guitar
Back in the day (way back) I played a very light, resonant vintage Martin that you could feel in your body when you played it and the sustain was amazing. I'm wondering what's out there that might be similar in a 00 or 000 size steel string without dropping a fortune or is this just a unicorn hunt?
I had a Ehlers SJ that came close and put my Collings on the shelf permanently, sadly I sold it. Thanks,

If you are lucky to find a Merrill OM18 you are done. Lighter and most responsible guitar I ever tried.

I have a short scale David Webber 00 in spruce over koa that is feather weight but has a remarkably big and sweet voice. Today, I played it back to back with my Froggy Bottom H12 (000) and, as always, was amazed at the parity in volume. To be sure, the FB has a more resonant bass, but not so much that it matters. Webber's guitars, if one can be found, are stupid reasonable for what they give you - like $2k-2.5k. The challenge is to find one whose owner is willing to part with it. I would have jumped on this one with both feet, were I in the market. This one apparently was taken off the market, but one never knows, do one.

Look to the mothership, Martin. It may take some time and research, but Martin is making some amazing guitars lately.
Musicvilla has some custom shop small bodies at times, casino guitars, willcutt in lexington,ky, the musicemporium, gryphons, will have trade ins and new ones at times. I mention these shops because I've used them and never been disappointed. I will not list my disappointment shop history to save you the headaches and stress-lol I've owned a custom shop or two, a few luthier builds, and although all were fine, the absolute best 00 I've ever played (and own) came from musicvilla and is a standard 00-18 reimagined series. 3.8 lbs, resonant, vibrates in the neck and back even when playing easy. Beautiful woods front and back. They are out there, and they range in the mid 2's. Musicvilla had a small body Kopp a while back that was maple back/sides, and it was a monster, unfortunately it was in the 5's if memory serves. I think it lasted 1 day before being sold. Kopps shop is down the street from mv, they know him well. They did a video on the mv channel, quinten loved it. I can't remember the model or size, but I think it was 00ish, could be wrong. Santa Cruz are the most lightly built guitars I have played. Although lightly built doesn't always correlate with resonant to me. For example, I would not say that my Martin OM-28A is lightly built but is so resonant (somehow).

Though it’s not a budget guitar, the lightest guitar I have is a Boucher Dread. It’s lighter then the 2 OMs I have. It’s also the guitar with the most dynamic range (ADI top).
If I didn’t already have 2 killer OMs I would look into a Boucher.

I think a standard reimagined 000-18 or 00-18 are really lightly built considering the scalloped bracing and good quality woods. My OM-15 is feather weight as well but its had time to shed some weight.

My Huss and dalton TOM-R is very light and ultra responsive. I haven't played their smaller body guitars, but I'd imagine they should be on your list of things to try out.

The lightest and most responsive guitar I have owned (and still do) remains my 1932 12 fret Gibson L1. With a 14.75" lower bout width (so between a 00 and 000) and truss rod it clocks in at just a bit over 2 3/4 pounds. Tall thin non-scalloped X brace. One of those guitars where the notes just leap off the strings.
