You might check out a CEO-7. Nice chunky V neck on those, great presence for a smaller guitar.

I paid $3500 new for my Northwood L00. Mahogany and Adirondack, it is light, loud, and responsive. The used market for a Northwood is very affordable.

It can go from Standard to CGDGAD without losing.

Not mine, but a good deal:

The only downside is the BRW headstock and back strip might be problematic importing into Europe if they find out. But the 00-18v is good to go with EIR in those places.

Both of these short scale Martins have a nice full sized neck, with 1 3/4 nut and 2 1/4” spacing for the 00-18v, and 2 5/16” on the 000-18A.
Excellent info thanks brencat.

Finding a 00-18v will be tough but I've added it to the list. Its a guitar I've thought about in the past but never had the opportunity to play. I have seen a few for sale over the years but they never appear at the right time. I think even a used Authentic will be £4500 plus here in rip-off Britain but I'll add it to the list as I have learnt that budgets are supposed to be broken when guitar shopping!.

Thanks I'll add that one to the list, they are pretty expensive in the UK for a non classic Martin but without a doubt worth trying.

The CEO-7 neck looks like a it’s a modified V and fairly slim? Is is really chunkier than it looks in the photos?

I've just moved-on a 000-28 ec which might have fitted the bill. They have a 1 3/4 nut and a hefty neck which quite suited me. Quite a nice guitar for the money too.

You might want to consider buying a Brook... depending on the appointments it'll be £2650 or £3500 and you can spec anything you fancy for profile/nut/scale length.

How about an Iris Guitars model OG. They have also released a 12 fret version. The standard but is 1 11/16” but 1 3/4” is available. The necks are supposed to be “full” c shape. I am not sure about the price in England but should be close.

I have both the Martin CEO-7 and 000-17SM. Both fit your requirements. I have big hands and like the chunky neck. The CEO is the Mod V—I love it. The 000-17SM is also chunky-ish, but it’s not a baseball bat.

If you’re looking for light flat picking and and finger style, get the 000. If you want to do it all including hard strumming, CEO.
