Default G7th mark 2 Problems

Mine doesn't work. The version 1 was slightly disappointing but this is worse. No matter how I position it, how hard I press it will not hold all the strings at the first fret and its not that much better further up the neck.

G7th is fantastic with customer service, so you should contact them first to see what's going wrong.

I've had a G7th Performance and a G7th Performance-2 and a G7th Heritage. They've all worked perfectly. In getting to know the products and company, I've written reviews here on AGF and read a lot of reviews. From what I've read and experienced it is highly surprising that you would have two bad products in a row.

Can you maybe give some more specifics? What kind of guitar are you using? Can you post a pic or video of your problem?

Maybe just squeeze a little harder? Both my G7th capos, old Performance and new Performance 2, work well.

I'm with you on this, ended up giving the thing away and went back to using my ol Keyser.

I'm nothing to do with G7th but I have one of their capos which works perfectly anywhere on the neck. This prompted me to ask whether your action may be a bit high at the nut. Just a thought, and of course if that's how you like your instrument set then maybe those capos are not for you, but if you think you would like to get to know one better it could be something to consider. It'd make your guitar easier to play as well.

Mine works flawlessly. I love my Elliott too, but frankly, at the G7th 2 price point and with one handed operation, I reach for the G7th first.

I have a G7th Performance 2 and it works fine. I would contact customer service and see what you can determine might be the problem. I always reach for my Elliott but I use a G7th on one of my parlors. It just seems to fit that guitar.

Best,
Jayne

The new version is a thing of beauty but my experience is that it does not function satisfactorily. I can assure all those who like it and wish to give me advice that I have tried litterally everything. I have a Taylor and a Lowden, nothing with extraordinary specifications. The old G7th is okay-ish. But I the ones that really work fine are my Shubbs.

The capo I have is a cheap piece of junk, but it works. What exactly is it that some mean when they say they don't work ?
Before we wholesale trash a product, let's go through the normal channels of customer service. This may be a dud, but may also turn away others from purchasing one in the future.
Do they fail while bending strings, strumming hard or ?

I too am with you on this. I wanted to give it a go, and I can use it, but it is always a hassle position, reposition, squeeze and squeeze again. It's lying about now, went back to my trusted Shubbs. The're always spot on!

Another satisfied G7th customer. I'm not minimizing your problem, but there might be a problem with the specific capo. I have 3 G7th capos and all work flawlessly.

I'm also very happy with my G7th Performance 2.

So one thing that might help - assuming you actually want help, and not just to vent - is to squeeze the capo shut from the open end, not the hinge end.

The basic principles of a lever apply. Squeezing the hinge-side tight won't get the open-side quite as tight, but squeezing the open side tight will tighten the hind side.

So if you attack the capo with the hinge on the low-E side of the fretboard, squeeze the far end, over the high e string. See if that doesn't help.

I will echo the encouragement to reach out to G7th customer service. I've never needed them, but only hear good things.

I have several G7th capos (one in each case) and find they work really well.
