Default Great Label.

This is me back in 2015 playing the guitar my nephew-in-law in Hobart, Tasmania built for me for the very first time.

This is the label inside.

Andrew has never built another acoustic!

It started life as a flat pack kit from the USA.
Alpine Spruce top/East Indian back & sides.
All solid woods.
I've had it for 4 years now.
Loud and very responsive but I experimented with strings for ages trying to get the best balance.
One day I hit upon the idea of going to a lighter gauge so I tried 11-52's and it all just fell into place.

We combined the words 'kit' with Andrews surname 'Curtis' to get 'Kittis'.
'RBJ, stands for 'Reasonably Big Jumbo' and the size is slightly smaller than a Gibson SJ-200 but bigger than their J-185 ... so we split the difference and called it a 195.

Kittis RBJ-195

Great label Bruce. When are you going to post something so we can hear it?

Of course it's a Jumbo, Bruce.

Wicked Cool that it was made for you. Was it a BTO or a happy coincidence?

Tadpole guitar kit - jumbo

So I knew when I bought it the kit was for a jumbo.

I paid US$225 for the kit and US$75.00 postage to Hobart, Tasmania.
Bought the Grover Sta-Tite 18:1 tuners from Stewmac USA.
Bridge from ebay.

Andrew re-made the fingerboard - used Australian Gidgee wood and added inlays on the headstock and 12th fret.

The finished guitar has a 16 1/2" lower bout - 10 1/4" waist - 12" upper bout and 5" body depth.

Very close to the Taylor Grand Orchestra size - the GO is just 1/4" wider on the lower bout.

For another half inch in the lower bout, it would be about the same size as a J-200 too; 17" lower bout, 10+1/4" waist, 12+1/2" upper bout, and 4+7/8" depth.

Either way, it is a handsome guitar you have there.

Very cool, Bruce - none of my nephews has ever built me a guitar. You’re a lucky man.

He told me years later it was hard work without having a proper jig to get the sides even.
He hasn't offered to build another one but he has made some stunning solid body electrics like this one,
