Default NGD GIBSON J-45

If you saw my previous post I had found a pretty good price on a 2019 J-45 Standard. I went and looked at it today, played it, looked it over, had the seller play it, he’s a much better player than me and I thought it sounded better than the the other standards I’d played in stores. It had a few light pick scratches on it but all in all it’s almost new looking so I took it home. Included with the guitar was a leather strap, truss rod tool, cleaning cloth and a key chain with a pick pocket, nice.
I had called Gibson and with some additional photos from the seller they authenticated the guitar as a 2019 Gibson J-45 before I purchased it. I thought that was great customer service, so helpful and friendly. The warranty was not transferable which I guess brings some risk. I’ve never bought a used guitar previously but with the price savings it was too tempting and I’m hoping I don’t have regrets in the future.
The guitar itself seems to offer a contrasting sound to my Martin and that is what I was looking for. It’s got this big full organic sound which seems like a definite contrast to my lyrical shimmering rosewood Martin. Now I feel I’ve got two very nice and very different sounding guitars that should serve my needs for the foreseeable future. Of course you really can’t see the future.
By the way if you look at the pictures you can see that it’s little dog approved.
I’m very excited and thankful to have these two nice guitars only a year and a half into this journey
Thank you all at AGF for your advice and support.

The J-45 is a terrific guitar. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.

Very nice score... great guitar at a killer price. FYI, if you're interested there is a thread or two on here about changing the tuner buttons to some cream colored ones. A really nice modification that suits this guitar perfectly.

Congrats! Love my 2018. Fantastic guitars. I did the string merry-go-round and settled on Gibson “Masterbuilts”. They sound so good on the J-45! You can still get them. But, not for much longer. John Pearse PB sounded very nice on it as well.

Nice job on speaking with Gibson. It’s always good to do your due diligence when buying used or new. But esp used.

And, at the price you’d mentioned...IMHO...you stole it. I have a K&K in mine. Pickups are always subjective but I find it a good fit for the J-45. If you ever need a pickup that is.

Nice find!

Enjoy your NGD and play it in good health.

Awesome! Nice guitar and it's purdy! I see Scruffy weaseled his way into a picture.

So I’ve spent a few hours playing the new J-45 today and the action is what I think is perfect on this guitar. I asked the seller if he had it set up and he said it came that way. Nice low action but no buzzing, very nice.
It has John Pierce 720ML strings and they seem really good for tone and playability. I’m sure some have favorite strings and I’ll definitely try some others but I’d be interested in your favorite strings for this guitar. I do believe I’ll be purchasing more 720 MLs though.
So far so good!

Congrats on the J-45.

Like a lot of J-4 owners here, you'll have to pry mine from my cold hard fingers, lol.

You'll see why.

Congratulations on your new J-45! I'm glad it worked out for you. I really like Martin MA540T Light strings on mine. Enjoy the new Gibby.
