marting hd28 w/ Baggs element active pickup
Hello everyone! I have been just learning about acoustic guitars from the forum and I finally decided to join. I just wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with a hd28 and baggs element active system. I don't know if this is just me but it doesn't sound very natural and I can't say that I am impressed with the sound of the guitar( through church pa system). Have any suggestions why? or ways I can improve the sound quality?

Assuming you are talking about Martin guitars the pickup you mention would
be the last system I'd use to amplify an HD 28 . The best pickup for the HD 28 and other Dreadnaught Martins is a Fishman Matrix II or if you can afford it a Fishman rare earth magnetic pickup. Martins big dreads are designed to drive the bass rythums in bluegrass music and need to be eq'd accordingly for something like playing in church PA's . Both the player and the sound person needs to have some experience in acoustic amplification to get a good tone from any acoustic much less the difficult to amplify Martin Dreads I find Martins sound best with Mahogany body and a red spruce top for sound reinforced use and or recording purposes. There are many exceptions but most require a really good matched pickup and good sound engineering. I'd suggest for worship go get yourself a dryer gutiar.
