Kind-of, yes.
My wife gave me $100 and said to buy whatever I wanted.
So, I got a used but totally mint Yamaha FS700S in sandburst!

My wife is really great. I was in a guitar shop playing a breedlove I really liked... $3k version. Way too rich for my personal taste. Wife says BUY IT. But she may be trying to get some leverage for a future purchase of her own.

I built up a guitar fund during my years of business travel by eating at Subway and pocketing the bulk of my $50/day per diem.

So, I have a separate stash in a separate account that funds my purchases. My wife is totally cool with that.

Life on the road really sucks it out of you, and this is the reward for all of those flight delays, sleepless nights, cranky customers, etc.

I guess I'm lucky too then. My wife said the same thing recently. She does enjoy listening to me play though, she says it's very relaxing. But then again she's never gainsaid any of my purchases as long as they don't interfere with household stuff.

I say congratulations and go get another! If it turns out to be a trap stick to your guns "well...you did say..."

My wife did the same thing this past weekend about an acoustic amp so now I'm the proud owner of a new Fender Acoustic SFX amp! http://intl.fender.com/en-CA/amps/gu...stic-sfx-120v/ First major gear purchase since 2012 and I'm tickled pink. I did pretty much run out and buy it after she told me! She did this in 2003 with my Martin 000-18MC too.

Honestly I don't care if she wants something in return. She can have whatever she wants. She's always been good to me. 23 years together!

Lets see... in the last 6 months my wife has bought me a Vox AC15c1 and a Taylor 150e. She has three banjos, two zithers, a Baby Taylor, and Merlin. She has to be careful checking ebay because SHE gets GAS easily.

We get along just fine...

Obviously, in that moment, your wife appreciates you and your thinning your herd---run, do not walk to your nearest guitar shop lest the moment passes.

I've never been afraid of either of my wives.

Send that to Noah Webster and have him list it as the definition of "Keeper".

My wife told me I could have one guitar for each day of the week.
I agreed with her.
So I have 9.
