Awesome, just awesome!! Thanks for sharing. I have no doubt other companies would have done likewise, I'm sure.

There's a lot of sitting around doing nothing during deployments.

That depends on what unit you are assigned to and the type of conflict, but some do end up with a lot of time on their hands. In any case, what Martin did was great.

Another reason to like Martin. Taking care of those who take care of us.

To add to the story, in 2014 my brother was dealing with esophageal cancer. I was a big Martin supporter and wrote them a note explaining what he was dealing with, mentioning a well-wish card from them would mean a lot. I told them I would pay for whatever their costs were to give him a surprise.

I could add a bit to this post that might bring a tear to your eyes. Ask if you want, privately. It'll make both of us tear up!

They sent a bumper sticker and card with many staff's signatures all wishing him well in his fight. I asked what I might pay for this and was told it was their pleasure.
He passed a month later. I'm sure it meant the world to him (although he was too proud to express it).

Don't discount the goodwill a company like Martin has. It's a LOT...

I agree with all the sentiments in the previous posts. I have always been a fan of Martin Guitars.
