Of my three Taylors, my 514 is the loudest, but that's not even a primary consideration of a guitar's sound for me. Almost any guitar maker has the ability to make a big guitar with decent wood thickness and correct bracing to produce volume, but tone - that's a whole different story. I believe that tonal quality, not volume, distinguishes a great guitar from a good guitar. Just my $.02....

I think you're right, I've talked about this with my wife as she was there when I played with the heavy handed guy (who stand at a 45° angle on my right). She stand 5 or 6 meters away and said that my taylor was better heard than the yamaha (!). Same thing with the cello (who was very near at my right ear). She stand 6 feets away and could hear me very well. Even if I have now a better unterstanding of this problem I'd like to thank everyone here who tried to help. Thanks, Christophe |

the loudest Taylor? Revoiced 810
My 2004 revoiced 810 is a cannon that blew away a Martin HD-28VE in both sound and clarity. The 810 is a sleeper that most do not pay attention to since it doesn't come with electronics and doesn't have a cutaway...

The loudest Taylor revoiced 810
I'm not sure if the 810 is their flagship model or not, but if I'm not mistaken I think that Guitar Center does not stock that model anymore, or at least they don't have many you can play..whenever you see one there, they are heavily discounted like they are not selling. To me it is truly one of their best sounding products, that revoiced 810. Go figure...
