Default Ovation Applause AE12

Just picked up an Ovation Applause AE12 1/2 size acoustic/electric for a song and am really happy with it. Action is good and the tuners are keeping it in tune very well, despite what I've read about Applause tuners of this era. I've got it tuned up to G-G and it sounds really lively. However, I can find nothing (and I mean NOTHING) about it online. Plenty of Reverb listings for the AA12, which is the same guitar but without the pickup. The pickup seems to be a passive one; I can't see anywhere that a battery can be plugged into it. Any of you guys seen or heard of the AE12???

Those are sweet! I remember trolling ebay in the early days looking for one. Applause was the lower end for Ovation back in the day, but the AE12 was an early 1/2 size/travel guitar with a laminate top that predated the small guitar craze. I bet it sounds better than most, even all solid, along with a good dose of toughness.

It does sound remarkably good for as small as it is! Plugged into a Roland AC-60 it sounds amazing!!!

Ovation guitars are very cool. I feel like sometimes they get a bad rap. I don’t own one but whenever I pick one up in a guitar store it does have a very unique sound to it. I hold no malice towards the ovation lineup of guitars. Makes me happy when I hear somebody raving about an ovation guitar. They don’t get enough kudos.

I just got the frets all polished, fretboard conditioned and put a new set of Elixir 10/47s on it and this little thing RINGS!!! I originally bought it with the purpose of reselling it, but I'm not so sure now!

I'm kind of the same way with the Ovation/Applause guitars. I hear people rail on them, but usually they also say they either had one or played one that sounded just amazing.
