I find it interesting that you title the thread limiting it to rosewoods and in the text you simply use other woods .
Osage Orange and Black Locust are not rosewoods , but are considered by many to be of the same qualities .
Why limit your world ?

Hey Otterhound, I was just about to mention those two since they came up in the non-tropical tonewood thread as comparable sonically. I think most fans of BRW, however, would probably find them visually unappealing. Personally, I'm tired of the look of straight-grained rosewood! I think Osage orange would look cool on a D-35!

It is interesting that some of the finest BRW guitars have rather boring looking , straight grained wood , yet they have step above sound qualities .
Guitars can be like woman in that some of the best looking ones will let you down otherwise .
Don't get me wrong , I am drawn to visual appeal , but I will be pulled away from that by what I hear .
I have a few back pieces of walnut here that are just plain looking compared to the rest , but once you tap them ......
They are all from the same tree , but certain pieces just have it .

Good point. I was thinking all woods when I was typing but probably assumed the responses would be all Rosewoods

Not sure how similar it is or not, but the best-sounding Martins I've ever played have been Madagascar Rosewood with Adirondack.

I feel the concensus is that whats the most important is who makes your guitar- not what its made out of .
But when you put together a great wood with a great luthier you have something magical .
