FANTASTIC VIDEO! As the camera swept across the room I could feel the joy you must experience each & every time you enter the BearDen.
For those of you who find it hard to understand why we have so many different guitars.... |

3 steel strings and a Yamaha classical I bought in 1977 (my first, and never play any longer). Looking to let go of 3 to recover some funds spent on my Exotic CM

7 is the most guitars that I have owned at any one time. I currently have 6 but 1 of those is on consignment and another will be going on consignment next week. I have the 4 instruments that I will be taking into retirement with me. They are:
2001 Wingert 00 14 fret cutaway long scale - cedar/EIR 2004 Wingert E Deep Body Grand Concert 12 fret cutaway long scale -German spruce/Cocobolo 2015 Alvarez Parlor 12 fret short scale - all-mahogany 2019 Kramer Prairie Grass scaled down slope shoulder -14 fret short scale -German spruce/Honduran Mahogany So, I am fortunate to have a nice variety to keep me playing music for a good long while. I have two but all previous to them are still very much alive in my memory, which is where they needed to go.

Down to these two, which I don't foresee letting go of anytime soon, if ever. They're way more valuable than whatever the resale values they might command (in North America), because nobody here knows about these guitars.
The Breedlove Pursuit just couldn't compare to these two, in volume and tone. I am looking for a very compact travel guitar (one with a pickup, as the two above are without it at the moment). No impulse decision here, as I'm very carefully weighing the pros and cons of all candidates.

I checked off 8-10 and then realized I have another I forgot about. So maybe that's a sign I have too many; but I moved off of assigning myself a number in the last year or so. I enjoy all the guitars, play them all, at least occasionally--even the one I forgot; and have another coming this October. There are eight acoustics and three electrics. Three of the acoustics and two of the electrics are here for the long run. They sort of feel like an extension of me--at least as a musician. The others I might replace with like guitars were I to hear similar guitars that moved me more.
I love guitars and I love the variety. Each guitar takes me to another place and inspires and moves me differently than the others. Edit: Embarrassed oops! Fourth electric (a very good Ron Kirn Telecaster) having been relegated to closet duty--and this one to be sold and not replaced! Last edited by jrb715; 07-25-2019 at 03:19 PM. |

I have 5. Can’t play worth a **** so probably don’t need any. Three electrics (PRS S2 Mira, Fender Strat, Squier Showmaster) and two Composite Acoustics acoustics, a Cargo Raw and an OX Raw. Of all of them, the OX is a keeper.
Going forward, I ought to drop back to 1 electric, and maybe the OX and an Emerald X7. Mostly play the acoustics. |

I'm down to one acoustic and one electric, with an electric custom build due real soon.
I had three electrics and three acoustics at one point, all high-quality instruments. However, I was spending a lot of time comparing guitars. When I bought my Latulippe OM, I decided to sell my two other acoustics. I also commisionned a build for an electric which should be delivered soon. I've already sold two electrics and will probably sell my Gibson Les Paul R0. I decided to go for small-builder custom instruments that are exactly what I want and need. I don't need other guitars really. If I ever add others, they will be very different (i.e. classical, or jazz archtop, for instance).
