Martin 000C-16SGTNE
Martin 000C-16SGTNE on Ebay(no affiliation)...if you want a nylon string guitar and do not want a 2" wide nut, this one looks like a beauty. 17/8 nut, radiusd fretboard, huge sound!,with or without the Fishman p/u. I have one and have not heard another crossover guitar that sounds better for folk, pop, Irish, blues, etc.... seems like a good price...the ebay seller has mis-labled it as 00016-sgtne and listed under acoustic-electric only...thats how to look it up

thanks.. especially to you as we exchanged a bunch of pm's about different crossovers. I think in the end this is the one I should go for and if for some reason it didn't work out the martin name will help with a potential resale though I think it'll be a keeper-the long scale length is really appealing.

good luck from me too...when you get it, I would like to know what strings you settle on. I keep coming back to normal tension EJ-45's
daddario's on mine. |

Though I've never played one myself, I have heard nothing but positive remarks about these Martin crossovers.

on the umgf the savarez 520r strings are highly thought of for this guitar. I believe martin000 uses them. Maybe he'll chime in...

Can anyone share more info about these Martin Nylons? How do they stack up to the Taylor NS series? I've been trying to "Read up" on the NS models for a while now, but i'm getting the impression that Taylor nylons don't even stack up?
I'm not familiar with Martins, and the naming system is confusing me. Martin 000C-16SGTNE 000 is the Auditorium size, right? 12/14 Fret. C for cutout. What does 16SGTNE stand for? I hate to give up the Taylor playability... but would like a nice nylon for Pop music. |

osweetmelody, I don't think you can say martin is better than taylor or vice-versa. I think the only thing that can be said about both is they're not "real" classical guitars. If I didn't have my heart set on a martin I'd be looking at the Taylor NS52CE that was just listed at buffalo brothers. Both of these guitars are cedar top/mahogany back and sides as well as 12-fret with cutaways. If you're comfortable with taylors I'd say go for that but I've never owned one but have read about the nylons having the same playability as the steel string models. |

S is for slot head, GT is for gloss top, N is for nylon and E is for onboard electronics...I think!

Taylor NS52CE may be another option for me. My Taylor is not bad. I have played some more expensive classicals, that the Taylor sounded better and more so for a steel string style.

here's the link:
http://www.youtube.com/user/MrJimdeb.../0/iQnqUK7VdA8 that kind of took me by surprise... not what I expected at all but I'm sure that has to do with his playing and the song. When I think of a nylon guitar this comes to mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYXBF...eature=related that hits the nail on the head for me. I'm sure the martin could pull that off. (and for a bit more "spanish sound") http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WOBdALSyBc |

I know these have a longer scale so those who prefer lowered tunings favor this model.
