Default My introduction and NGD!

Wanted to introduce myself and say hello. New member and new Eastman E10D owner. I’ve been a noodler off and on since grade school. Owned a couple nice guitars in a Lowden O25 1992 purchased new after getting insurance money from a robbery at gunpoint that lost me a mid ‘80s Rickenbacker 330. Sold the Lowden because I wasn’t playing enough to justify the awesome instrument, bought a Loar LO16 as a substitute.

The Blue Guitar, a legendary shop here in San Diego, is closing up shop. Everything was 40% off list so I had to indulge. The all solid wood of the E10 is awesome. It’s warm and booming. I also got a MD-305 Mandolin and couldn’t be happier. Real excited. Real pleased.

Now to online lessons for both mando and guitar. I really want to improve my playing.

Turns out the guitar has a pickup. The shop didn’t even realize it. I can see the wires but don’t know which pickup was installed. Wasn’t part of my decision to purchase but would be interested in what pickup was installed.

The case they gave me I think might be small. It wasn’t the case that came with the guitar but is an Eastman case. Also want to get a pickguard, think Clarence White/Tony Rice speckled looking. Which LMI Tor-tis template is best? D28 size?

Better get right back to the store and get that corrected, then. If they're closing down, you're going to need to move fast to get a case that fits properly.

A D-28 size pickguard should be the right size.

The shop owner was not real concerned about my case. The one I received is serviceable for now. Thinking about a nice gig bag a la MOMO or something along those lines. Any ideas on how to ID the pickup?

First Buffalo Bros. now the Blue Guitar. San Diego sales must be down? I like your instruments and I hope you enjoy the beginning of a rewarding hobby.
I used to camp on the beach at Ponto and Grandview with my Yamaki plywood guitar in tow. Keep us apprised of your progress and have a Captain Keno short stack for me!
