Guild M-20
Hey all,
I have a Fender '65 RI Jazzmaster that I've put out for sale/trade in a few different places (incl. AGF). I had a wonderful Gibson J-50 that I stupidly sold and miss like crazy, and I'm trying to replace it, using the JM as trade... I have a trade offer locally for a 1964 Guild M-20 that's been professionally refretted and had a K&K western mini installed. As someone who's wanting to play out, should I consider this guitar? I'm hoping that the mahogany will help warm up the otherwise-lacking bass response of the small body. I LOVE mahogany/spruce guitars, but have limited experience with all-hog instruments. I do a lot of singer/songwriter-y and old-timey americana-type stuff, and am about 50/50 between strumming and fingerpicking with a capo. I'd love to hear your opinions/experiences. Thanks!

Man, I would KILL to have an old M-20, especially with a K&K already installed.
If you gig with it you can EQ all the bass you want into the mix. GO for it, I say!

Thanks, Ken! The pickup is definitely a plus. I’ve had a 1958 Martin 0-18 that was a basket case, and that turned me off of the 0-sized body for a while, but I very well may give it another shot with this one

Based on how much I am in love with my modern version, I would love to try out a vintage one. Mine is surprisingly loud with a surprising amount of bass as well. But I suspect we could be talking apples and oranges here! Good luck!

thanks guys! I'm interested in trying this one out, for sure! I was a little worried about having one over a dread as my main guitar, but it sounds like I may be able to make it work! This is great news, because being 5'8", dreadnoughts feel like they dwarf me, sometimes.
