Default John Denver fingerstyle TAB: Annie's Song

One of my beginning fingerstyle students wanted to learn a simple arrangement of "Annie's Song" by John Denver. He knew the chords, but didn't know how to put a melody over them. So, I did a minimalist arrangement--using just the melody and the bass notes (no frills or embellishments) to illustrate how to do it, and to provide a starting point for a more "fleshed-out" arrangement.

Since I know there are a lot of John Denver fans here, and a lot of folks interested in basic fingerstyle materials, I thought I'd share the TAB with anyone who's interested. Just send me an email ([email protected]) requesting it, and I'll send it your way.

Some things you should know:
  • It's actually in standard tuning . . . which will come as a shock to some of my friends.
  • My student knows how to play it in the key of C, so that's what I used. I have no idea what the correct key is.
  • I do not have a recording of the song handy, so the melody is from memory (using a copy of the lyrics as an aid). If I got a few notes wrong, please email me the fixes so I can make it right.
  • The TAB is in Power Tab (.ptb) format, which means you'll need Power Tab to view/hear it.
  • Power Tab is a free program available here: http://www.power-tab.net/downloads.php
