Best YouTube teacher?
I just started group lessons at a social club and the teacher encouraged us to get on YouTube to supplement. Is there a video series or two that you expert on here reccomend?
Thanks! |

One of the best free courses out there is justinguitar.com
Justin Sandercoe is the instructor, and he also has lessons on youtube... But for clear instructions in a good orderly style, go to his website... |

Justin, Andy Crowley, guitarjamz....to name a few. Just search and find what is best for you.

For sure the most organized and comprehensive of the free or freemium (free with add-ons for purchase) is Justin ... Marty (guitarjamz) is so hit and miss and is more about short cuts ... So many gaps with his stuff, but there is still a lot of good quality content -- Each of these guys have a dozen copy cats ... one guy (papastache or whatever) so badly copies Marty it's pitiful, and it cheapens guitarjamz even more when Marty pimps his carbon copies in his own (annoying) email blasts.
Which brings me back to Justin .... 100% integrity with the guy, no midnight special obnoxious emails, and the stuff he does sell (like song books) are top notch and value. Justin seems to have a legion of UK based online teachers that have followed his model, but with nowhere near the depth. No wonder he's first one noted every time here. There are many other quality teachers on YouTube, many who do less extensive gigs, because it's maybe not a FT thing (for example AGF member love2play has some of the best acoustic classic rock tutorials). Take a look in the Play sub-forum, where this topic comes up frequently and there are many good tips and links.

When I first started I mostly used Marty Schwartz, his suing lessons are really good for beginners. He makes a lot of songs that aren't necessarily easy into beginner friendly, he shows how to play it using easier chords and whatnot. But as I got better I found Justin Sandercoe to be more in depth. His videos are usually 2 or 3 times longer because he really breaks everything down, and the songs he teaches seem to be more like the originals.

Adding to the list. For fingerstyle songs there's Licknriff and goliathguitar. They're good for learning how to play songs and they provide tabs and are free also. There is also Guitarlessons.com and that YouTube channel has a lot of videos from beginner to a few riff lessons.

I like Justin Sandercoe and Erich Andreas. Both are good. Erich charges for his online system. Justin does not.

If you want to learn some finger picking, I found this guy's lesson to be excellent. Andrew Wasson is his name, and some of his other lessons look good too, but he definitely covers some more advanced stuff. I've found a couple of Jim Bruce videos to be good also.
I just recently found Justin's stuff. Looks like it might be pretty good, especially for beginner's level. I've started his ear training lessons, and they've been helpful. |

Justin Sandercoe. Yes it is free, but if you can afford it buy his books and DVD's. They are really good and you can also support Justin. He has to make a living!

Justin obviously puts in an incredible amount of work for his site and his materials, all of which are first rate. I know a good teacher when I see one, and Justin is a great teacher. And yes, he operates on an honor system. Support him based on your perceived value of his product and your means to support. He asks for nothing more. |
