Default equidistant string spacing rather than equidistant string centers

can some one prove this concept "equidistant string spacing rather than equidistant string centers"....Technofrets.Merrmac has repeatedly stated that huss and dalton does string centers and martin/taylor do spacings. Can some one actually prove this with pictures?
