[QUOTE=sinistral;7432288]I sent this link to Michel, suggesting that the name of the guitar should’ve been “Fantômas”—he really outdid himself on this one.* Congratulations, Doug, on such a fine instrument! Can’t wait to hear it!

Thanks for sharing this Bill and I agree that Michel outdid himself on this one!

Sam, I remember that you were originally going to commission a 7 string from Michel. Your nylon Aboudib cross-over build turned out great.

..Hi Doug,
I held back for a looong time… but can’t anymore.
What a beautiful guitar Michel has built there - and bois de rose is the real deal from what I can tell. In Michel’s hands this will undoubtedly be magnificent.
Boy, I’m not jealous, but feel joy for you !

Thanks Dave, I love the look of the Bois de Rose and his carved rosette and endgraft too! I'm also excited about receiving a Bianchin OMC commission later this year, that I believe you're quite familiar with

Thank you Klaus! Michel's design and execution on this Somogyi inspired Mod-D is joy inducing. I think he may still have a few sets of Bois de Rose remaining for commissions if the temptation lingers.

Absolutely, we'll make that happen when you're back in Texas in May Rob. Looking forward to seeing your music room in AZ soon too!

Steve

Thank you Steve, coming from you that means a lot to both me and Michel.

Michel informed me that the guitar has shipped from France this morning via UPS Express. So, the countdown begins....

A too long of countdown I am sure, for me waiting for the customs clearance was brutal thinking of it sitting in a warehouse along the docks somewhere...but it arrived save and sound as I am sure yours will.

Thanks for the reassuring words Tom. The guitar flew out from France and arrived overnight in the U.S. After another 24 hours in Customs, UPS sent me the declaration form that I needed to fill out Wednesday afternoon. I sent UPS the completed forms electronically and within an hour or so the guitar cleared Customs.

Overnight the guitar traveled by air to DFW airport and is currently being processed locally at UPS for delivery.

That sounds great. Mine was not so smooth, they couldn't find the paperwork that the luthier had filled out even though it was in the plastic document holder on the box, so he had to do them all again etc.

Default New Guitar Day!

UPS delivered my Aboudib Mod D this morning! Shipped out from France on a Monday evening and delivered to me in Dallas on Thursday morning...I think the UPS Express shipment went very smoothly.

Cheryl took pictures of the unboxing. The Hiscox case felt cool so, to err on the safe side, I waited an hour or so until it was closer to room temperature to open it. Inside the craft paper used for packing, I found that Michel had gifted both of us with an Aboudib Guitars Hoodie!

When I later opened the case, it's obvious that I was pleased by what I heard and saw.

I've been enjoying playing the Mod D most of the afternoon today. I'll reserve a proper review of the guitar until I've had more time to play it and the NGD honeymoon has subsided.

My initial impressions are "very favorable" in terms of the guitar's sound, playability as well as fit and finish. I uttered descriptive words like "whoa" "wow" and "amazing" while I was playing it...so there's that.

Looks incredible, and you look happy! I also hope the honeymoon lasts indefinitely. I’ve had my MA-D for nearly 7 months and am still astounded by how responsive it is.
