Strings for smaller guitars

Hi,

I recently bought my kids a (cheap) classical guitar each. The guitars are second-hand and the strings probably should be replaced.

My question is, are there strings designed specifically for 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 size guitars or do you replace them with hard/extra hard tension strings?

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
