Default Larrivee om-03R

Any one have any experience with a Larrivee OM-03R? I'm looking for an OM that won't empty the wallet. I like Eastman's but have a problem with the finish cracking - I've owned two and after several gigs they just don't hold up. Never owned a Larrivee - Thanks!

ahve had a couple of om-03's including an om-03r. terrific sounding and great build quality. larrivee is a truly consistent performer among factory builders in my experience. I would buy one sight unseen and would not with many other major builders.

one thing to know, their fretboards are fairly flat compared to most others (side to side or radius as it's known) and their action and playability are just a tad stiffer than many - not deal killers for most, many people love them, but in the end they weren't for me....

but I believe they are among the highest bang for the buck on the market today...

I bought an OM-03 Custom from Wildwood Music. It has a Cedar top and Peruvian Walnut back and sides. It's a wonderful guitar with amazing tone and it practically plays itself.

I am in love with this guitar and can highly recommend the OM-03.

I had one and liked it, and have generally preferred the OM-03R's I've played in stores to the OM-03's beside them. You'll typically get a fuller low end response from the rosewood back and sides than you will from the sapele or mahogany backs and sides of the OM-03.

That's been my experience, anyway. I do play with a pick most of the time, and rosewood OM's and 14 fret Triple O's just work better for me.

Anyway, the Larrivée OM-03R I had was a nice guitar, but I have an older custom made 000-42 that's the same body shape that basically covers the same tonal territory, so I traded off the OM-03R. I do have a walnut OM-03W that I would never willingly part with. It's a superb instrument. Between it and my 000-42 I've basically got that guitar tonality covered.

I've had mine since 1998.

I have more expensive guitars, but the OM-03R is still my favorite.
