Since I posted I found a picture of a six string Craviola with that bridge, with one dot. It does seem to be the correct bridge for my guitar.
Any source for a new pickguard?

Have never seen one precut in the craviola shape. You might have to try and cut your own.

I kind of figured that. Not a big problem. I like Stew-Mac's tortolloid.

Yeap, they are still in business (and making Craviola 6 and 12 string Acoustic, 6 string electric guitars and other stringed instruments). Here is their international site.

A friend of mine had a 6 string electric Craviola from Giannini in the '70s. They ruled supreme in Brazil in the '70s electric guitar business. That's all you could get in Brazil back then.

They shared the Brazilian acoustic guitar market with "Di Giorgio", in my opinion a superior instrument on average, but in the '80s they partnered with Sergio Abreu, arguably the best Brazilian luthier today, and built their best classical guitar ever: the Giannini C7. Sergio, who along with his brother Eduardo formed the most celebrated Brazilian guitar duo ever in the '60's and early '70's, built the C7 tops personally by hand. He no longer works for Giannini and currently has his own luthery.

I know this is off the original topic, but I thought you might enjoy the videos below:

Sergio and Eduardo Abreu playing Scarlatti on the BBC (the only know video of the duo). Sergio is the one on the right.

For our Portuguese speaking forum members, a 2009 video about the "Duo Abreu" and Sergio Abreu's work as a luthier (in Portuguese only, I'm afraid).

A very interesting 2010 video on Sergio Abreu's work as a luthier (in Portuguese, with French subtitles).

Whatever else has gone wrong, there is nothing wrong with your playing! You sound great.
Bought a gig bag for the Crav, the hard shell case was the wrong one and the guitar was kind of jammed in there. The 12 has a long headstock and the case put more longitudinal compression on the instrument. Never owned a gig bag before, don't like 'em.

Now to eventually track down a Craviola case. They show up on Fleabay periodically.

Thanks, yeah not a fan of gig bags. TKL makes craviola hard shell cases. As you know they show up on ebay quite a bit and at a cheaper price than direct from a store when they stock them or special order them. There is one now for $140

Picked up my Craviola at the guitar doctor yesterday. Loose frets were fixed, frets were dressed, action set. Plays like butter, probably the easiest playing 12 I have experienced. I Installed a used Baggs Lyric last night, and it sounds fine. Sunday I'll try it through the church PA.
Interesting that this guitar has a double truss rod.
