£800 for a new guitar, make a suggestion
As above I have £800 for a new guitar, I have an om size guitar and it gives me jip in my shoulder so I'm looking for a smaller body with big sound, 44mm nut, short scale all satin finish, solid top, if possible all solid, I need some good suggestions so I can start looking, please no martin suggestions, don't get me wrong! They are lovely guitars but the sound is just not for me, they are to bluegrass for my ears if that makes sense.

Hi Rich ! I'm surprised your question has sat here unanswered for so long.
Spending other peoples' money is a favourite pastime around here. AND, It's a Taylor, they're all pretty good. (I speak as a mainly Martin guy, but I loves me little GS Mini I does.) Happy hunting !

Give the Taylor 322 a go. It is a Grand Concert body size and it has a big sound. A solid Mahogany top and a solid Sapele back and sides. Mahogany and Sapele are in the same family and it takes a discerning eye to tell them apart. Sapele is more plentiful than Mahogany, so it helps to keep the cost down.
The 32x series that Taylor is building are the best value in their entire line of guitars. They all sound more expensive than they are. You can pick one up for about $1200.00 U.S.

I spent a loooong time researching comfortable, great sounding short scale guitars and my short list was a Taylor Grand Concert. I played the mahagony topped one and it's sweet, comfortable play.
If you want very short scale you could try a Taylor GS Mini mahogony top.

I'd suggest looking to some of the European dealers for a 00 Eastman - the way the Euro is falling against the £ means that a guitar that normally costs over a grand can now be had for a lot less - & if you are patient, even cheaper in the months ahead; just a thought.

Thanks for the replies folks, taylor 300 gc series i think is definitely worth a look, ive got a few taylor dealers within 50 miles of me so i will need to plan my weekends well as they are pretty much all opposite directions to each other.

Following my opening comments about martin guitars i played a 000rsgt today to give the martin brand another chance, guess what! i liked it, so here i am with a dilemma, do i go with a Taylor 300 series (a fair bit more than my budget) or do i go with the martin 000rsgt,(a little more than my budget) i know the nut width isn't what i thought i was after but it felt comfortable, almost inspiring, anyway, i would like to try a taylor 300 series out, unfortunately i am unable to find anywhere that has a Taylor 300 series in stock and i am kind of reluctant to ask them to get one in, i don't want to feel any kind of obligation to pretend i like it if i don't. help
