Sigma SDR 28H

I just purchased a Sigma SDR28H guitar Made in Korea. Prior to buying the guitar, a Martin service rep told me that the top was solid spruce and the back and sides are laminated rosewood. But here is where I am confused, I am pretty sure that after looking it over that the sides and back are solid rosewood. Could carefully matched laminated wood appear to be solid? There are many sites on the web addressing this issue of laminate vs solid with different view points. Can anyone out there help me to clear up this issue?
