Default The First Summer by Phil Taylor

This wonderful piece is by my friend and fellow UK based Brook guitar aficionado Phil Taylor (UKPhil on the forum). I was looking for another piece in the unusual DADEAD tuning and he very kindly allowed me to record this piece, an original he wrote some 10 years ago when he and his good lady moved to a particularly beautiful part of the UK called Uppermill, near Manchester.

Hope you enjoy it and that I do it justice- its a very rewarding piece to play

I really enjoyed listening to your treatment of this beautiful composition Robbie. Probably my favourite from Phil's 'One Year On' CD.

I would say you put your own stamp on this - lovely expression in your playing.

The melodies in this piece are such a joy that I just can't help playing it with as much feeling as I can muster. The tuning is also rather wonderful- there is just something about it that creates a wonderful set of overtones that one can really work with in making the tune sing.

Thanks everyone else who has had a listen

And thank you Phil for writing it in the first place and allowing me to have a go at it

Robbie
