Are u particular with string spacing at saddle/bridge?
Is this considered wide compared to norm - 2 7/32? When i say norm i am just martin specs as benchmark say 2 1/8.

For me (7 mos experience playing guitar), I would rank bridge string spacing as follows (best to worst):
1. 2.1875" Perfect (Martin Performing Artist neck) 2. 2.25" Good 3. 2.1563" Good (Eastman neck) 4. 2.125" Tolerable, but a tad tight 5. 2.3125" Won't buy / Too wide (for me)

Since I have no clue what the string spacing is on any guitar I own, I would have to say I'm not too particular about it.

i wouldn't consider that particularly wide. my preference is 2 5/16". it may depend on if you typically use a pick or your fingers. i don't use a pick much anymore. |

That parameter seems to be all over the place.
If I can choose, or customize, I like them wide. On some guitars where it was possible (the resonators, ie), I enlarged the spacing at bridge to 2 3/8". The Brunner, I asked for 2 3/8" too. But on the Eastman it is 2 5/32" and I manage. Fingerstyle only, no picks. |

I am the same way.

Same here. I use flat picks, some fingerstyle with thumb and finger picks, and sometimes just bare fingers. (no nails). Doesn't seem to make much difference to me.

Don 't know if I've ever asked about string spacing on a guitar. If I find the neck is comfortable for me, that's what I go with.

what about guitars you've played but don't own? ever notice feeling cramped or (more likely) too much spacing when picking?

If one wants to fully understand what will be comfortable for *them* in advance of picking up (or choosing) a guitar, the following may be rather useful to note on a guitar that is currently comfortable:
1) Overall nut width. 2) String spacing at the nut. 3) Overall width of f'board @ 12th fret. 4) String spacing at bridge. 5) Neck depth/thickness at a couple of places along the neck. 6) Neck profile. 7) Fingerboard radius. 8) Scale length.

2 1/4" is my favorite bridge E-e length. Provides enough room for fingerstyle and for getting the pick between strings for note picking. 2 1/8" gets to be a bit on the tight side for that.

I only care as it relates to the neck of the guitar.

I've rejected a few otherwise pretty good guitars because the spacing at the saddle was too narrow for comfortable fingerpicking. I don't look at the specs unless I'm buying sight unseen, I'll know right away when I start playing it.
