It's interesting that the price is $4666.

My first Martin is going to be the Miley Cyrus special edition twerking D28. Now that will be an interesting use of the..... Forget it! Comedy is harder than it looks.

For a start, there's no basis for a Louvin brothers (plural) guitar...in the same way there's no basis for a Louvin brothers mandolin. The D-28 customized for Charles Louvin already posted including photos would be it. But let's face it. The "groundswell" for this guitar was an album cover and a T-shirt...and a book (with the same cover). I would also suggest a fair amount of beer, some high humidity...and ego set to a clueless level. Yeah Bob Dylan promoed both the song and album cover on his radio show...big deal.

Take a CEO who is "intrigued" by images of the devil in "folk art," who picks up a T-shirt of a duo he had probably never heard of till that day in Nashville, who then does "research" (translation: reads a book passed on to him by a friend)...and take someone who apparently has no concept of what is truly "iconic" (though he's the CEO of Martin) and this is what you get.

A Plan 9 From Outer Space D-35 would be an improvement.

Let's put it this way...just a coincidence? Part of the promo? Part of the "intrigued?" Part of the "joke?"

Oh the drama and indignance! Jump ship! Man overboard!! Ha ha ha you guys crack me up. But you're seriously over-thinking this. There truly is something for everyone at Martin. This is obviously a working novelty for some of the more eccentric minded folk. They will sell them all. Not my cuppa whatsoever, but given the choice of this or the CarTalk (since the comparison was made), I would choose the SIR hands down.

Having read the book with the same gawdy graphic on the cover, I will tell you, although I am not the customer CMF is trying to tap into for this guitar, the book is a REALLY good read, and the cover was forgotten before the first page was read.

I wouldn't buy one of these because I'm an OM guy.
But if someone gave me one I would display the guitar on the wall in my studio with no qualms. And as long as no one from the AGF is looking over my shoulder, arms crossed and frowny faced, I might even pluck on it from time to time (even though I'm an OM guy )

I always found it interesting that you can scramble the letters of Satan and spell Santa.

Lighten up already. A guitar is not a sacred thing...it's a tool for making music. If somebody wants to put a picture on a guitar in the name of showbiz, it's fine by me. I actually like it...it makes me laugh.

I'd gladly own that guitar, and play it in public too.

Yeah... I always thought the same thing about ... nevermind.

I STILL can't believe Martin came out with such a tasteless "decoration" on a great guitar. And I still can't believe this thread title has been allowed to stand.

Why wouldn't it stand? It's the name of the album, not the OP's personal declaration of his religious beliefs.

It's allowed to stand on the surface of an iconic guitar, so why not in a thread title?
