Default Buzzing Elixors

I just changed my strings out from Acoustic alchemys to Elixor nanwebs just to see how they sounded. You know how that goes... always in search of the right sound. Anyhow when I got done the low E had a buzz. After about an hour of buzz searching I narrowed it down to the string itself. I checked the ball on the end and it was very tight. When I changed the string to a new one the buzz was gone. I know I've only been doing this for four years but I've never encountered this before. Oh yea how do I get a single sixth string?

Stan without a buzz

I had the same probelm with Elixirs on my HD-28. No matter how I cranked the truss rod. I ended up putting Martin SP's on it and all is well.
