Default Tested a Taylor 522e 12 Fret

Got a chance to play a Taylor 522e 12 Fret this afternoon, it was really nice and smooth to play. Besides have 2 more frets, can anyone tell me the difference between the 522 in 12 Fret and 14 Fret versions? I did note they are both short scale.

The bridge placement is different. The 12 fret guitar has the bridge positioned two frets further down, away from the nut. It's supposed to enhance bass response and volume, and based on playing my Taylor 712 12 fret against a 412 14 fret, that sounds about right. Of course the back and side woods are different on those two guitars, but I'm allowing for that difference in formulating my opinion.

Well, the main difference is the tone. If you can play the 522 back to back with a regular 14 fret Grand Concert, the difference should be noticeable, if not, no point in getting the 522.

Basically the 522 have more mid and bass tones and if you like to capo that's an advantage for the 12 fret.
