Which Guitar
Yea...one of those threads.
I have narrowed it down to two solid Spruce / Mahogany guitars: - Larrivee 000-40 - Yamaha FS5 Unfortunately both are extremely hard to come by with the music stores in the area. They both sound incredible. Which would you pick on build quality, fit and finish?

Larrivee for sure. Jean created something special in the 40 Legacy series.

Larrivee, would be my choice of the two.
I've nothing bad to say about the Yamaha, I have a very old one, will never part with it. I just think the Larrivee is the better choice between the two, IMHO.

I cannot speak knowledgeably about the Yamaha. I do have a Larrivee OM-40, though, and can say that the build quality and fit & finish are flawless. After about six months of ownership, I am still delighted at how well this guitar was made. The sound, you already know about. Good luck with your new guitar, whichever one you decide to get! The several Yamahas I have looked at in guitar stores look like they are very nicely put together, with great attention to detail.
