Default Hydrometer suggestions??

I know there have been many threads about hydrometers. Looking for recommendations for one that is reliable but not too expensive. I found this one on Amazon

Think it would work inside the guitar case but how about in a open area, say 10'x10'.

Hygrometer.

Oasis ok, have Caliber IVs for years, but just ordered this one from Musician's Friend for bigger numbers, and cheaper price...

I use those (Caliber IV) and think they are fine. Inside cases when needed or placed in the room where I store guitars.

As long as it is placed away from anything that would affect it, like air conditioner or hot air outlet, then it should give a representative RH reading, even in a decent size room.

Hi CharlieG

The Hygrometer will do fine in a case, and will also give you feedback on a 10X10 foot room. I prefer case hygrometers for cases, and room hygrometers for rooms.

Like this - click

And just for fun - they are called HyGrometers not HyDrometers. Hydrometers measure the density of liquids not the amount of moisture in the air.

Those are very good but get two cause sometimes there is a dud. If they both match then you can trust them for about I year then the battery needs to change. In two years replace the unit cause it, they all, get wonky with time.

You can often buy exactly the same item for about £3-£5 if it is aimed at the "vivarium" market.

Look at the link above , (£93) then look down at "Customers also viewed" and see an identical Inkbird brand item for £6.

Yes they work in cases or in rooms - but readings are approximate and RH only goes down to about 25% - at that point put your stuff away anyway.
