The Washburn D-10S is about $230 I think now, solid top. Not a bad guitar for the purpose. Also there are a few all hog models around for around $300.

What's your opinions on fender vs Yamaha in the same price range?
I have the FG700S (dread) and my brother in law has the Fender DG8S...both sound and look amazing for their price range. But...Fender just started releasing more economical laminated acoustics and they really haven't been tested for longevity. Yamaha?? Well, I also have a 23 year old Yamaha F420A that I use to lead worship every week just for the fun of telling people it's an all-laminate guitar that costs less than $199 (actually got mine on craigslist for $30).

So that's my reasoning for choosing Yamaha over Fender.

I would say that's very sound reasoning.

Default Yamaha FG700s or FS700s

I am new to this, to be honest. But I have had my FG700s for a week now and I love it. Every day I have practiced and every day I have thought, at least once, "**** that sounds good!" It's got such good sustain and feels great in my hands. I feel like all the reviews are right, this guitar is awesome for the price. I think the FG stands for f@*king great!

PS. Aw, that's so cute that the forum software edited when I used the D word!

Its a really nice guitar with a lot of volume. Specially for what I paid for it

Haha! I didn't know the software did that. Anyway, enjoy your Yammie. I don't think you'll be disappointed as it ages.

I think it's cool that profanity is censored, this feature of AGF nicely aligns to rule #1 of the forum.

I don't take issue with the censorship of profanity. Forums have rules and free speech does not apply as this is not public property. No argument. I just didn't consider "****" or "the D word" to be profane. Rather mild in my experience. Then again, I am a godless heathen.
