For decades, 1-11/16 was the standard for Guilds. (Though some M-20s were 1-5/8.) My '46 Epiphone Broadway 1-11/16. But my 1920 0-18 is 1-3/4. A couple of handbuilts go 1-7/8. I play them all with pretty much the same level of comfort. What matters as much to me, especially with old and creaky hands, is the neck profile and fingerboard radius.

I only play 1 7/8 nut with 2 3/8 string spacing at the bridge... Very comfortable.... Much, much better than 1 11/16....

Actually I need two sizes. One foots larger than the other.

Sorry to have missed the drama in this thread. I have to confess to not knowing the nut width of any of my guitars and now I see what I've been missing

I wont buy another guitar unless it has a 1 11/16 nut. I can easily feel the difference even when going up to a 1 3/4 and its not one I like.

I did the exact same on my OM grand custom order. 1 11/16 and c neck!

I like both 1 11/16 and 1 3/4.

I have four with 1 11/16
Five with 1 3/4
One with 1 23/32

It’s not a make break for me

Played a few back in the '70s - my favorite width then and now, and I'm sorry I didn't grab me a jumbo...
