Total aside but...

I've always wanted to live in a 'flat'. If I were at the right point financially, I'd love to rent a flat and spend a significant amount of time there...

Apartment just doesn't have the same ring to it...

This is quite true of course. The good news is that we own a couple other, smaller houses that we rent out. My wife has made it very clear which one we’ll be moving to.

And it is a lovely smaller house in an historic neighborhood a few miles away.

The bad news for her is that the current tenant loves the place and loves renting from us. He doesn’t want to be a “homeowner”.

I just keep quiet for now. But we are both 64……..

And it is one story vs the 3 we deal with now - which is appealing.

Congrats again foxo on the great find.

Thanks very much for the kind words!

My initial relief and elation has transformed into constant worrying about whether the mortgage will be approved since making the OP. I have an excellent credit rating but there are other things that could cause issue, such as the property being ex-council (less desirable to some) and my low deposit amount being contentious. Hopefully I’m worrying about nothing and it will all go smoothly but I don’t think I’ll be completely content until I have the keys in my hand.

Turns out I was worrying about nothing! Mortgage was approved in under two days, now my solicitor just needs to do his thing.

Default Just had an offer accepted on a flat!

According to what I've read from various sources, "guitar players" don't do flats...

But musicians do...

I’ve definitely been known to sing flat on occasion.
