Your local dealer should be able to replace the saddle with one of the proper height.

If you want to try it yourself, I think the new saddles are around $5.

I wouldn't shim it. Just replace it with one that's a little higher.

Good Luck,
Chuck

If you call up Taylor, they will send you a new saddle for FREE. Just ask them for one that is a little taller than the one that came standard on your 410.

Question

Does anyone know the advantages of a bone saddle as opposed to plastic? Is it worth looking into?

Bone saddles can be quite inconsistent in density. You may get a good one, you may get a bad one. Because of the inconsistent nature of bone, under saddle transducers work better with the man made stuff. But a good bone saddle seems to have a warmer tone then Tusq (which some may like better than the bright Tusq sound). I've never tried it but I've heard corian gives a similar tone to bone.

StewMac www.stewmac.com also has the compensated saddles. = B string offset.

I buy them from time to time to put on other guitars.
