Default Jackson Browne guitar

I just saw Jackson Browne playing with the Nitty Ditty Dirt Band on a PBS special. He was playing a sunburst electric guitar that looked like it had a Martin logo. Anyone know what guitar it might have been? Thanks, John

John, you might want to play a couple of those before you go buying one. They've got fairly anemic DeArmond pickups in them, were a complete flop in the marketplace when Martin was making them, and are not especially well-respected or sought-after by electric guitarists. Jackson Browne might have gotten a good sound from one the night you saw him, but he's got a full-time sound guy who travels with him and who is very, VERY good. Mr. Browne is also a true guitar geek who enjoys offbeat instruments just because they're uncommon.

I've played several of these, and while the workmanship is very good, as you'd expect from Martin, the sound wasn't particularly good. What's more, I don't think they have adjustable truss rods in them, though it's been so long since I played one that I can't quite remember.

Anyway, my suggestion is that you do a little more research on them before you go actively searching for one to buy.

Just play before you pay. I wouldn't mind having one hanging in my studio but it would have to be a great deal.
