Gas free. Interesting concept.

Current GAS is like a low-grade fever. Nothing all-consuming. Just hanging out in the background. Waiting to be unleashed.

If I would stay out of here I would probably be okay.

Wink how long gas free...gas anonymous

This is the charter meeting of the first gas anonymous. We acknowledge that are gas is out of control and with the help of others and a higher power we will overcome temptation. We admit that there is no cure. We agree to abide by the following commandments to reduce temptation.

1. Thou shalt not surf the internet for guitar porn.
2. Thou will end all subscriptions to guitar magazines.
3. Never enter a music store for the rest of one's life.
4. Listening to guitar music is forbidden.
5. All guitars in one's possession must be kept under lock and key to be viewed once per year.
6. Catalogs from the mail must be destroyed upon receipt.
7. Gifts of guitars from others must be destroyed or sold within 24 hours.
8. It is a sin to look at and lust over pictures of guitars.
9. Fantasizing about a guitar purchase is a mortal sin.
10. Other instruments with strings shall not be substituted for guitars.

GAS-free is a foreign concept to me...living in a perma-GAS state is probably a more accurate statement.

I can help. We'll use operant conditioning. You'll punish that behavior by sending the Kopp to me. I'm sure it'll work; trust me!

I like to think have a pretty good sense of when it's safe for me to support the local guitar store and when it's not. Right now they have a few things on their website that look dangerous. And end-of-year special pricing. And I've been watching too many youtube guitar review videos. I'm about to order strings online.

On the electric side, I've been GAS-free for over 2 years. Once I got my AVRI '52 Tele, I actually felt a burden lifted. There was a momentary bout of Danelectro fever, but it passed.

As far as acoustics go, I probably acquired 10 in that time, and sold 4 or 5. I'm okay for now -- I'm picking up my Custom Shop D-18 in early January. Thati is expected to lead to a period of herd thinning and relatively stability.

Exactly 1 year on December 21st - a used Anderson Drop Top arrived on that date. I got 3 last year - 2 Anderson electrics and a McKnight Dread. Imposed a moratorium for this year. Stuck to it! No amps or big ticket musical gear.

I don't know about 2016, but nothing is grabbing my attention at the moment.

Amazing how my savings account recovered in the past year.

I've been GAS-free ever since I bought my Martin OM-28V from a member on the forum here. Well, almost. I kind of maybe want an OM-18 Authentic or maybe a OM-21. Not sure. Oh, heck yeah, I've still got GAS!!

A little over a year. This was the cure for acoustic GAS for me: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=368068

Y'all thought I was crazy when I said I was going to make that the rest of the year (last year when there was only a few weeks left, lol) without another acoustic and I did it.

GAS is always there but I haven't bought or sold or traded anything in 3 years.
