Amplify Larrivee LV-03
I'm interested in purchasing a Larrivee LV-03 in either Mahogany or Rosewood.
I've read some not so good reviews about the L.R. Baggs Element that comes factory installed in the E series. So I am looking at buying the guitar without a preamp but would like to be able to amplify it. What would you recommend that would amplify the natural sound of the guitar? If possible, I would prefer to purchase something that I could install. |

I'm not a fan of any under saddle transducer style pickup. I would go with a Baggs Lyric bridge plate mic if I wanted and active pickup or one of several passive bridge plate transducers (SBT) like K&K Mini, McIntyre Feather, or JJB-330. Lyrics go for about $200 (Strings and Beyond) K&K and McIntyre about $100+/- and JJB about $50 ordered direct.

K&K Pure Mini sounds great on my Larrivée L-05 Mahogany.

+1 on the K&K mini. I've had them in my Larrivee L-03 (as well as a few others) for several years and it's very natural sounding, although I would recommend one of their (external) Pure Preamps for best results.
