Question Alhambra 9P 7/8 vs Takamine TC135SC ?

I hope that I am posting in the right group.

I know that the Alhambra 9P 7/8 is a classical guitar but not sure what to make of the Takamine.

A local guy is selling both of these models due to arthritis in his hands, he has listed both of them for the exact same price, $1500 Canadian btw. I know that the asking price is decent but I was wondering which of these two guitars comes out on top.

Is the Takamine basically a nylon string classical guitar with a cutaway? Also it has an onboard pickup/preamp setup.

Any opinions would be welcomed.

Thanks!

The Tak is not a classical - it's a nylon string "crossover" type (narrower neck, etc)

Thumbs up

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. Sounds like a pretty interesting guitar.

I know that some people rave about the Made in Japan Takamine guitars, I’m guessing that the later models might be made somewhere else?

I think the Tak is cool because of the cutaway and the electronics. Many Taks are still made in Japan, as is the one you’re considering. While I haven’t owned or played one of their classical models, I have/still own some of their wonderful steel string models. They do have some lesser cost models that are made in Korea, China, and Taiwan. Those are typically their G series guitars, which are still quite good even though they aren’t made in the Japan factory.

Good luck on your decision.
