Watched the comparison video with interest and was able to guess which was which, both just fine guitars.
But...is it just me , my jaundice from all the threads on the AGF, there's a close up of the D 18 about 3.12 . Does it look to you as though it's starting separation or has had a binding repair, or is it me expecting it and accusing a shadow of bad behavior.

Before I'm accused of being a Martin hater I own two, and one FG9 R which I do love.

I didn't see any separation. I was able to distinguish the Martin from the Yamaha and I felt the Yamaha sounded a little better. I don't know that this is a great comparison though as the Martin is sitka and the Yamaha is Adirondack.
