Default NGD: Eastman AC122-1CE

I mentioned this towards the end of the "Late To The Party" thread that I started, but thought what the heck, it should be worthy of a NGD post, right?

So I'm a newbie, tried learning guitar a few years back, only got to the point of learning a few chords (A, D, E, G, C) before "stuff" happened and I ended up letting the guitar learning go by the wayside.

I just started back up last week using the Justin Sandercoe lessons at justinguitar.com. My wife heard me plunking away on her Fender acoustic that I originally bought for her when she was interested in learning to play guitar. After checking to make sure the sounds coming from the room where I was practicing were not, in fact, the result of me skinning one of our cats alive, she mentioned that she had been thinking of taking up the guitar again. So, I figured I might want to get another acoustic--but not one that is too expensive. I didn't want to break the bank.

A local guitar store in my small-ish town is going out of business because the owner is retiring. So I went over there to see what he had left in stock. I walked out with an Eastman grand auditorium, the model mentioned in the thread title above. $458 got me the guitar, a nice Eastman padded gig bag, some picks, and a gel humidifier. Online price for the guitar is $539. It sounded really nice when the owner demo'd it, and I found that it is easier to play than the Fender I bought my wife. When I told the owner I could afford to spend a few hundred bucks more on a guitar, he assured me that, while he would be happy to take my money, he was confident that I would be very pleased with this guitar for quite some time to come.

And so I am now enjoying my new Eastman.

Congrats on your new Eastman. Perhaps your Fender would benefit from a professional setup.

Post some photos, when you have a chance.
