I played two of these guitars at my local music shop. I usually love small body guitars because I mainly play fingerstyle. And I was ready to spend the money. But, in my very personal and humble opinion, I was not impressed. They sounded OK, but I guess that for 1500 dollars it is possible to find something better.

Taylor does do these things once or twice a year, I noticed it said "see all qualifying guitars". So maybe they are offering other models with deal.

But another thought, this is the GT acoustic only model, and maybe the do have an over abundance of this model.
Just thinking out loud...

Fender is knocking 10% off many amps, including the new Princeton Tonemaster, that hasnt even hit store shelves yet! I think they all fear inventory surpluses. Even non-guitar products are being discounted. Maybe we’re in for a period of deflation?

Does it count as deflation if they first raise the prices 20% and then knock off 10% though?

https://www.taylorguitars.com/gift-event/us

It’s their standard end of year sale, just like they’ve done for Christmas shopping in years past. Nothing to do with urban ash specifically.

“The holidays are coming up fast, and we’re here to help you find the perfect gifts with the Taylor Friends & Family Gift Event!

Here’s how it works:

When a customer purchases any full-size Taylor guitar from the Academy Series and above, they can add one of these featured models at an exceptional price:
Baby Taylor for $99
GS Mini Mahogany for $199
GS Mini-e Koa for $299”
