Default NGD - Ribbit

It only took me 921 days to find a Froggy Bottom guitar that I thought I could afford.

But it finally happened, thanks to the good folks at Acoustic Music Works, an AGF sponsor. As in the past, Steve and Raymond were great to work with. Highly recommended not only for the excellent service they provide, but also for their wide selection of guitars.

I was looking for either an H-12C or an M, Froggy’s roughy OM-size guitars. AMW had a nice, actually mint, used M Deluxe. It arrived here a little over a week ago.

This is one of the few guitars I’ve ever played that just feels perfect when you pick it up. Even before playing it, there is something about it that just feels right - the finish, the body size/shape. And the playability is equally impressive. The M in particular has kind of a small waist, which lets the guitar sit lower on your knee, making it feel smaller than other guitars with 15” lower bouts.

The top is Adirondack spruce, full of linear stripes:

The Honduran Mahogany back and sides are some of the nicest I’ve seen, with an unusually light, almost caramel color:

The appointments of the Deluxe grade are nice but not overly blingy for my tastes. Goldilocks would have loved it, as do I.

Tone wise, I’m not sure what to say. These words all mean different things to different people. But if I strum a chord on the M I think “wider” than my Martin, and no scooped mids. There is some Froggy magic in their guitars. It’s hard to explain. The sound is “complex” though not as much as the H-12, the M being a little more fundamental of the two. The M has a nice bass and big fat round trebles, yet still evenly balanced.

Feels perfect, sounds perfect.

Nice. I love the figure 8 shape. Spruce over mahogany is my favorite flavor, too.

Enjoy!

Oh my! That's gorgeous!

I hope to have a Froggy one day. If I do, it will probably be my last guitar.

Congrats, Kevin.

That’s a beautiful guitar. I have an M Adi/EIR and have loved it for 4 years. Very powerful for a small guitar and as you say, extremely comfortable. Congratulations and enjoy the ride. I think this one is your guitar, right?

Great choice! Not much better out there than a Froggy!
