All that inlay almost sounds like something from Antoniosai or Bruce Wei.

Then your photos should show up on here. As for the guitar itself, it's almost certainly a student guitar made by someone who took a guitarbuilder's training course at one of the places that teach that skill. One of the most famous luthier's schools is the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery, which requires its students to build one acoustic and one electric guitar. Presumably the Canadian school that taught this builder has similar requirements. Probably your best bet would be to first track down the school itself - there can't be that many of them in Western Canada. Then send photos to them, if they're still in business, and maybe they can help you track down the person who built the guitar. But be forewarned that the majority of graduates of these luthiery schools do not go on to productive careers as guitarbuilders afterwards. The best and the luckiest might, but there are plenty of luthiery school graduates who go on to do other things. Good luck with this. Please do return and post about what you find out, if indeed you do manage to track down the luthier. Hope this helps. Wade Hampton Miller |

I don't think so, made in Canada and too a bit rough to be an import. The inlay is similar (I looked on web at those) but more detailing in the ink, definitely some minor flaws, as well with mine. If you have a chance to look at my pictures, you might see what I mean. Thanks so much, M

How did you determine the source as Canada, much less Western Canada?

Yes I was told that it probably made at a school in 1970's in Western Canada but now I believe it probably wasn't .. it probably is a Bruce Wei, though I wonder if he uses Brazilian Rosewood, which 2 luthiers have identified it to be. sorry for the trouble thanks V
