Default Yamaha A Series Questions

Hi to everyone. I'm gassing for this guitar, but want to know just a few things. Maybe you owners there can help me. I really have big hands and almost always go for guitars that are 1 3/4 nut width, with the exception of my Lag, which is 43mm but I used it with a capo in the first fret. However I had to change the nut on this guitar to one that was 1.5" from E to E to make it playable even in the second fret according to what I was looking for and what I'm used to. I really want one of these Yamaha A series but If I buy I will go with the AC3R given the srt system.

So the questions are:
1. What is the real string spacing at the nut? (outside E to Outside E)

2. At the saddle?

3. What is the exact measure of the nut? 43mm or 44mm?

I love the Wood bindings on these guitars. I'm not particualy worried about the sound mainly because I have read enough reviews about it, I had an FG700 before and sounded great and overall I trust the Yamaha guitars to know the sound will be great.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

1. What is the real string spacing at the nut? (outside E to Outside E)

37mm

2. At the saddle?

55mm

3. What is the exact measure of the nut? 43mm or 44mm?

43mm

And those two basic advices:

-if possible play before the ONE you'll buy,
not so much for the sound as if it's brand new it will sound a bit tight,
but in order to get one with a good neck angle:

after 30+ years of electric i bought my A3R without knowing too much about acoustics and even though everything is fine i wish i had more saddle sticking out after shaving it to lower the action.

-do a search on this forum, there are a couple of useful A series posts.

Good Luck !

xouham gave you all the pertinent info. These guitars sound GREAT, the narrow nut spacing was a deal breaker for me or I would own one right now. (I actually preferred the Mahogany version.)

Thanks a lot for your responses! Where I live the only Yamaha dealer does not carry neither the L or A series, so I may have to order them, test them and then return them if not satisfied. The problem is that the shipping return cost me $30-$35 per box. The string spacing at 37mm should be no problem because my Guild is 1 3/4 at the nut and has that same string spacing. So if that's the case, its now a matter of feeling the neck and either play it as is or use a capo on the first fret. Playing from the second fret on, I will have a little more room for my fatty fingers.

Thanks again!
